The honorees for the 25th annual Texas Film Awards were announced today by the Austin Film Society (AFS), recognizing influential figures in film and television with ties to the Lone Star State. This year’s event, set for March 6, 2025, at Distribution Hall in downtown Austin, will celebrate actor Michelle Rodriguez, screenwriter and producer Noah Hawley, and Alamo Drafthouse founders Tim and Karrie League for their contributions to Texas’ film industry and beyond.

Texas Film Award inductees

San Antonio native Rodriguez, best known for her role as Letty Ortiz in the “Fast & Furious” franchise, as well as performances in “Avatar,” “Resident Evil,” and “Machete,” will be honored for her impact on action and genre filmmaking. Fellow Texas filmmaker Robert Rodriguez, with whom she collaborated on multiple projects including “Machete” and “Alita: Battle Angel,” will present her award.

Emmy-winning creator of FX’s “Fargo” and the upcoming “Alien: Earth,” Hawley will be recognized for his creative storytelling and influence on television. An Austin resident for more than 15 years, he runs his production company, 26 Keys, from the city, which opened its downtown headquarters last year.

Tim and Karrie League, co-founders of the Austin-founded Alamo Drafthouse, will be inducted into the Texas Film Hall of Fame for their role in revolutionizing the cinema experience. The couple launched Alamo Drafthouse in 1997, growing it into a national chain and establishing Fantastic Fest, the largest genre film festival in the U.S. Their award will be presented by actor and producer Elijah Wood.
